A KisGeri 24 24 órás versenyének versenyszabályzata
KisGeri 24 is a sort of scoring competition, where the completed routes’ points are summarized during a 24-hour climb of teams of four. The scoring is individual. It is not demanded that all team members are finishing one appropriate route. The scoring of routes is due to grade, height and the method of belaying. All the climbers can try every kind of route independent from grade and height.
The teams can climb with their own equipment. There is an opportunity to rent gear on the spot in case you do not have your own. The top anchors are biners, you do not have to build any top anchors.
Free solo is forbidden during the festival, climbing is only allowed by using harness and belaying device. As we are climbing in an exploded quarry, some loose holds may occur – wearing a helmet is mandatory for both the climber and the belaying person.
As this competition is set in friendly atmosphere, we won’t apply any judgement over you, so you will score yourselves. We trust you that like true climbers you will register your scores fairly.
Scoring rules are as follows:
Before the competition there will be an entry ceremony, where all the teammates are expected. This will be the opportunity to present your costumes. You can get extra scores for your costumes only if you accomplish a climb in it. The introductory climb will take place in the „23 carat court” (23 karátos udvar) and on the „Illúzió” wall where the jury will give scores for your performance.
All the routes can be accomplished by all the four teammates, but only if the next climber is already having his shoes and gear on, ready to start. If any of the other teams are standing in the queue waiting for the route you are climbing on, you have to pass over the possibility for them after two attempts. Every second counts, so please pay attention and respect all your contestants.
During the day you can climb with the other party of your team parallelly, independently from the other two teammates. The time management is also up to you until 8pm. At that time, a relay climb starts which means that only one fixed party per team is allowed to climb at once. Good tactic is crucial, the climbed routes may not be too far from each other which would cause a long time outage for the team. During the relay climb, it is allowed to reserve a chosen route: as long as the active party is still on the wall, the lead climber of the inactive party can look for an optional route and reserve it until the end of the other party’s climb. The belaying person of the inactive party is the courier: at the moment the last climber of the active party is reaching the top anchor or finishes his climb, the courier goes back to his climbing partner and starts to belay him. From now on, they are composing the new (active) party. The relay climb finishes at 6 in the morning when you are allowed to climb parallelly again.
This is a 24-hour climb which is not only a physical but also a mental challenge. Take care of yourself and also your climbing partner, it is not worth to continue climbing or belaying totally exhausted. You better take a nap, have a pleasant conversation with others or grab a caffeine bomb, than getting injured or worse! Check the knot on your harness and also on your partner’s before every climb. Double check, triple check, multicheck your belaying device and the knots on your harnesses. Make a routine of these processes.
Everybody is climbing on his own responsibility. Every attendant under the age of 18 need to show their parents’ permission.
If you notice a loose rock on the wall, or you are not sure about the condition of a bolt or a top anchor, please let the staff know about the issue. If you see that somebody is not behaving properly, endangering his or others’ health, warn him or inform the staff about his behaviour immediately.
The quarry and its surrounding is an increased conservation area. We are calling for your attention about your environment - do not litter, and do not make any harm to the flora and fauna. Building a tent will be allowed only on appointed places. Feel free to bivaque and sleep in hammock everywhere, but you will need the organizers’ permission to dot it in bolts or top anchors.
Team leaders will get the conservation regulations. Please find some time to study it and share the document with your teammates as well.
We are asking you not to behave irresponsibly since our common aim is to be able to repeat this festival next year.
Climbing gears offered for test can be taken for some time. The maximum period of time for using one stuff is 2 hours, so other attendants will have the opportunity to try them too. If you are not sure about the proper functioning of the gear, ask someone who can show it to you adeptly, or turn to the organizers.
We would like to get back the test equipment in proper condition. The amortization of these stuffs is a natural process, but if the damage of any gear is crucial, please inform the organizers as soon as possible!
