What and where is KisGeri?
Kisgeri is a climbing festival held in the Hungarian "Kis-gerecsei" quarry.
How do I get there? Where do I park?
With a car from Budapest:
M1 highway(requires vignette) > Zsámbék > Szomor > Tarján > Tardos and then towards
Süttő. After passing Bikolpuszta turns right after the bridge. Left from the red line on
the map. Continue on the road in the forest until the parking which will be on the right
side. (Marked as P on the map) Leave the car at the parking lot.
After this, continue your journey on foot. From the road, turn right into the forest and
on the National blue trail. After continuing around 800 m uphill on the trail, you will
pass a small hut-sized rock on your left. After passing, turn right to cross a ditch and
continue uphill on a small hill. You will reach the Anonymus-wall. (On the map: blue
line)
The center of the festival will be at the Illúzió-wall.

How about ridesharing?
We suggest if you have a car with free space, sharing it with others and advertise this
in the facebook event. Similarly, if you don’t have a car, ask for a seat in the
facebook event.
When will the program start and end?
You are welcome to join us from Friday afternoon. We ask the competitors participating in
the 24-hour format to arrive by 16:30. The competition will start at 18:00 on Friday and
will end at 18:00 Saturday. We would like it if you could stay for the party on Saturday
evening. On Sunday at 10:00 we will start packing everything.
When will the competition start?
The competition starts at 18:00.
For the competitors of the 24h format, this is the only starting time. You can start
registering from 16:00 and by the latest arrive at 16:30.
The 12h and 6h format competitors can arrive later, but the competition ends at Saturday
18:00 for everyone.
What does your admission fee entail?
With the admission fee, you can participate in the competition, you will get a route map,
goodies bag, and based on your chosen competition format meals as well.

Unfortunately no.
Who will be awarded?
The first 3 competitors will be awarded in each format.
What should I know about the 6-hour format?
The rules of the 6-hour format can be found HERE.
In the 6-hour format, you can participate in a team of 2. You can collect your points
for 6 hours from your start. You can decide when you start from Friday 18:00 to Saturday
12:00.
What should I know about the 12-hour format?
The rules of the 12-hour format can be found HERE.
In the 12-hour format, you can participate in a team of 2. You have 12 hours to collect
your points. You have a flexible start as well, and you can take a break which won’t
count towards your 12 hours. The organizers have to be notified about the start and the
end of your break. Of course, you can take a rest in your 12-hour climbing too, but this
will count towards that.
What should I know about the 24-hour format?
The rules of the 24-hour format can be found HERE.
In the 24 hour format, you can participate in a team of 2. It’s up to you how much you
climb and how much you rest or participate in various activities.
How do teams get points?
You can get the full amount of points via lead climbing only. You do not get the points
if you fall, sit in or hold on to quickdraws. If you climb via toprope you get half the
points. If you climb trad you get 2x the points. Check for these routes on your
scoresheet. During the night on Saturday there will be a timeslot where you get triple
points. The organizers will announce this at the briefing. You can get extra points via
dressing and climbing in costume, slackline, highline, Bring Sally up challenge and
other challenges during the day.
How do you calculate the points for each route?
The points for each route are quadrupled based on the difficulty of the route in the UIAA
scale and multiplied by the length (in meter). We give more info for enrolled teams
about the points.
Who will give you the score?
Since this is a friendly competition, you will keep the score yourself. We believe that
you will be fair and correct with this.
What is the Bring Sally Up challenge?
The Bring Sally Up challenge is a push-up challenge where you have to do push-ups and
keep yourself in position for the song titled Flower by Moby. It is only 30 push-ups,
but it is not easy! You should try it to collect some extra points.
What is the slackline?
A strip of webbing fixed above the ground by 0.5-1m between two trees where you can try
your balance skills. If you can cross one of these, your team will get extra points.
What is a highline?
The big brother of slackline. Narrower (2.5cm) webbing and fixed above are much higher. You
can try this with a harness on. It will be in the 23 carat section at 30m high. Everyone
can try it, and you can get extra points with it too.
Can I participate in the festival without competing?
Yes, you are welcome to join us! You can participate for a 6000 HUF admission which will
cover your meals on Saturday. Without this we cannot guarantee any services/meals.
What other activities will take place beside the competition?
You can climb outside of the competition, try slackline and highline, the Bring Sally Up
challenge and other challenges.
Can I climb without climbing equipment?
Yes! There will be some equipment for testing that you can try for some deposit.
Will there be rock climbing training?
Yes, so don’t stay home if you are a beginner. During Saturday there will be basic rock
climbing training with an instructor. The price of the workshop is 3000 HUF.
Where can I sleep during the festival?
The quarry and the surrounding area are nature conservation. Please don’t litter and
cause harm to the flora and fauna. You can only fix tents in the appointed locations.
Bivouac and hammock are allowed anywhere except the walls. Bring your own
camping equipment.
If you are not a dirtbag climber, there is also a possibility to sleep in this tourist hotel
in a castle:
Serédi-castle.
The price for this is 10 000 HUF / night, which has to be paid to the castle’s caretaker.
Can I go home to sleep during the festival?
We advise you to always stay there, but if that is not possible, you can choose otherwise.
It’s important to know that you cannot ride in your car on the forest route between
20:00 and 5:00.
What kind of meal possibilities will be at the festival?
If you are a competitor, then:
24-hour: Friday dinner, 3x on Saturday and Sunday morning.
12-hour: 3x on Saturday
6-hour: Saturday lunch and dinner.
If you register to participate: 3x on Saturday.
If you don’t register, we can’t provide meals.
During the festival there will be unlimited drinking water and a drink bar too. We try
to minimize the waste, so please bring reusable cups.
Will there be medical assistance?
Yes.
How about electricity?
Yes, we will have solar panels and to charge around 10 phones at the same time. If
possible, please bring a power bank.
What about hygiene?
You can use the clean water tank to wash yourself, but please don’t use much as this is
also for drinking and cooking.
There will be mobile toilets during the festival.
How is the trash collected?
There will be a separate collection for the trash. Please use the designated points for
this. Please don’t throw it away and keep the area clean as we would like to organize
the festival next year too!
